Spanish rice in gumbo? This new Southlake restaurant has new ideas about seafood
Hey, Bud! What’s with the gumbo at Shuck Me?
Clayton, North Richland Hills
Shuck Me is a new catfish and seafood restaurant in Southlake near the Keller city limit, and it fuses several different types of seafood. The atmosphere is East Texas catfish shack, but it serves San Francisco sourdough-bread chowder bowls, Long Island oysters and snapper Veracruz. The gumbo is poured over Spanish rice instead of white rice. (It’s at 585 Randol Mill Ave., north of Southlake Boulevard.)
Hey, Bud! When is the annual Norwegian Holiday Dinner this year?
Late planner
The annual Lutefisk Dinner in Cranfills Gap, an old Norwegian-American town in Bosque County south of Glen Rose, is Saturday. Lutefisk is a Scandinavian tradition, but the family-style dinner also features turkey and dressing with green beans and pies. It’s about $20; call 254-597-2406.
Hey, Bud! What happened to the owner of the original Shed restaurant at Dave’s Stove Shop in Hudson Oaks? His food was great.
Jim, Fort Worth
Jeff Carr, who built the Stove Shop into a popular sandwich and pie restaurant, left a few months ago and planned to do catering. But he recently fell off a ladder and broke a leg. He’s sidelined this holiday, but watch for updates.
