‘Pink slime,’ roaches found in latest Tarrant County health inspections
A Tarrant County restaurant had “pink slime” in its ice machine and six others had issues with roaches in the latest round of county health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from July 5 through July 11 and 142 inspections.
Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. Restaurants that score under 70 require a follow-up inspection.
Six establishments were found to have issues with roaches:
- 7 Days Food Mart, located at 3031 Harwood Road in Bedford, had a score of 95. Six dead roaches were found on the floor of a walk-in cooler.
- American Tropical Products, 235 North Industrial Boulevard in Bedford, had a score of 99. Two dead roaches were found in the kitchen.
- Pela Kwanga, located at 235 North Industrial Boulevard in Bedford, had a score of 99. Two dead roaches were found in the kitchen.
- S Blessing Hand, located at 235 North Industrial Boulevard in Bedford, had a score of 99. Two dead roaches were found in the kitchen.
- Sankai Exotic Food Market, located at 235 Industrial Boulevard in Bedford, had a score of 99. Two dead roaches were found in the kitchen.
- Tropical Delight Odia Catering, located at 235 North Industrial Boulevard in Bedford, had a score of 99. Two dead cockroaches were found in the kitchen.
Taqueria El Campeon Restaurant, located at 2709 Mustang Drive in Grapevine, had a score of 73. Inspectors noted that foods in the walk-in cooler had been stored at improper temperatures for over six hours, and that an employee was seen handling foods with no gloves on.
Krew Kitchen, located in Terminal A at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, was unscored. The facility, which serves meals to airport employees and flight crew members, had “pink slime” inside the lip of an ice machine. Inspectors also noticed that cold foods were being held at incorrect temperatures, according to the report.
