Refrigeration issues closed two Arlington restaurants, health department says
Two Arlington restaurants were closed and another was reopened by inspectors in the latest round of Arlington city health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains 45 inspections from May 3 through May 9.
Arlington’s inspections function on a 100-point system, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and 70 is considered extremely poor. The city of Arlington also provides establishments with inspection score certificates, which assign a letter grade — A, B, C or F — to help customers see the results of the latest health inspection.
Subway #57957, located at 6751 Matlock Road, was unscored and closed during its inspection. The location had critical issues with non-functioning refrigeration units, which led to food being stored at unsafe temperatures, city officials said. The restaurant reopened May 11 after critical violations were fixed.
Church’s Fried Chicken #491, located at 2302 South Collins St., had a score of 81 and was closed during its inspection. The walk-in cooler was broken and there were multiple repairs needed at the restaurant, in addition to poor cleanliness. The location reopened after a follow-up inspection on May 7.
