Texas Monthly says these North Texas spots have the best new tacos in the state

After less than a year, a Fort Worth taquería has opened a second brick-and-mortar spot and gained recognition on Texas Monthly’s “25 Best New Texas Taquerias.”

Taqueria La Revolucion in Haltom City opened its doors in September, selling authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) tacos, agua frescas and papas asadas, roasted potatoes. Today, they opened their second location in North Richland Hills.

Texas Monthly praised them for their taco gobernador, a cheesy shrimp taco; the ribeye taco with caramelized onions; and the pina agua fresca.

All restaurants listed on the Texas Monthly ranking had to have opened, reopened or expanded their menus between August 2024 and March 2026 to qualify. Texas Monthly staff visited nearly 200 taquerías for this list. Every four years, the magazine releases its best tacos in Texas list, with the most recent one released in 2024. Fort Worth’s Don Artemio and Revolver Taco lounge (which has closed in Fort Worth but remains open in Dallas) were both mentioned.

“This suburb of Fort Worth is home to a bevy of taquerías and Mexican restaurants, many focused on seafood,” reads the Texas Monthly article. “La Revolución spotlights a little of everything but excels in seafood.”
