This newly opened Taco Bueno is turning into a Popeyes in Parker County

A short-lived taco spot along Interstate 20 will turn into a Popeyes restaurant later this year.

Taco Bueno opened at 5300 S. I-20 Frontage Road in May 2025. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, an $80,000 renovation and alteration project will convert the space into Popeyes, which will be the second Popeyes in Parker County.

The 2,350-square-foot property is owned by Sun Holdings, a large Dallas-based franchise management company. Sun Holdings did not respond to requests for comment.

The company franchises Applebee’s, Arby’s, Burger King, IHOP, Taco Bueno, Popeyes and more across 27 states, according to its website.

Construction for the project is slated to begin April 27 and finish Sept. 28, according to records.
