Salad, protein bowl and sandwich shop opens in Fort Worth’s Near Southside
A new, healthy restaurant option is opening soon in the Near Southside neighborhood.
The area already has its share of Michelin-recognized brisket and oily Neapolitan pizza, but this national chain will focus on fruits and veggies.
Original ChopShop is a fast-casual chain focused on meals made from whole ingredients. Their main food is salads, but they also make sandwiches, bowls, fresh juices and protein shakes.
The first Original ChopShop in Fort Worth opened in Alliance in 2024. Now the second will be at 105 E Pennsylvania Ave. in South Main, next door to Summer Moon Coffee and neighbors with Panther City BBQ.
The “healthy food boom” has become more common in Fort Worth.
HG Sply on University Drive specializes in allergy-friendly, clean food options. Flower Child, another chain on University, focuses on fresh, healthy food made from real ingredients.
Most of these restaurants are targeted towards the TCU student population, which is made up of 55 percent of out-of-staters. (Original ChopShop started in Arizona.) In fact, Original ChopShop will give TCU students $3 off bowls, salads and sandwiches until July.

The Muscle Malt protein shake with banana, peanut butter, chocolate protein powder is another popular option.
