Each week, we spotlight a "hidden-gem" restaurant in the Fort Worth area that you, our readers, recommend checking out.

These local, mom-and-pop restaurants may not be the biggest or fanciest in town. But the food is delicious, the service is friendly and the price is right.

Los Asaderos ($), Northside Fort Worth

Where is this restaurant? 1535 N. Main St., near the Fort Worth Stockyards

What readers recommend about Los Asaderos: “The grilled items are cooked correctly with a spice that is different than any other place. Their salsa is the best in town. I believe Serrano peppers are involved. Can be hot or mild depending on the peppers. But always great.”

What else to know: Originally called El Asadero, this restaurant has been around since the 1980s, and its longevity is for good reason. The spicy salsa and extra hot sauces are legendary, along with the green chicken enchiladas or fajitas. See the menu.

Los Asaderos is open Tuesdays through Sundays. The hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. except Fridays and Saturdays, when closing isn’t until 9 p.m.
