We have a winner! This Fort Worth burger joint wins our best burger poll

Whether it’s a thick patty sizzling on the grill or a soft bun stacked high with toppings, Fort Worth has no shortage of great burger spots.

To settle the debate once and for all, the Star-Telegram asked readers to vote for their favorite burger restaurant in town.

After rounds of voting and more than 300 ballots, the results are in, and one Fort Worth classic came out on top.

Your pick for the best burger in Fort Worth is Kincaid’s Hamburgers, a longtime local favorite known for its thick, hand-packed patties and old-school Texas charm.

Keep reading to see a full list of all the burger restaurants nominated, plus how we organized voting rounds.

The winner of the best burger poll

Kincaid’s Hamburgers, a 60-year Fort Worth tradition, first opened as a grocery store and butcher shop at 4901 Camp Bowie Blvd. long before gourmet burgers were a trend.

Butcher O.R. Gentry began grinding fresh beef trimmings and serving thick, homestyle burgers that quickly built a loyal following.

The shop eventually became a full-time restaurant, keeping its original recipes and simple toppings — lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard and optional American cheese — that have made it a Texas classic for decades.

Over the years, Kincaid’s has earned national recognition, including being named “Best Burger in America” in the 1960s and 1980s. It’s also featured in the book Hamburger America by burger historian George Motz.

With five locations across North Texas, Kincaid’s remains a local staple, drawing both longtime fans and newcomers who want to taste a piece of Fort Worth history.
