These Dallas restaurants failed inspection in December; flies, roaches and other hazards

Eight food establishments in Dallas failed health inspections due to violations including live flies and roaches, according to city data compiled by the Star-Telegram.

There were 594 restaurant inspections between Dec. 1 to Dec. 21.

Dallas uses a 100-point system in restaurant inspections. Scores of 100 to 90 are considered to be very good, and restaurant scores from 80 to 89 are considered to be good. Both require the next regular inspection to be in six months.

Restaurants scoring between 69 and 60 fail and require a follow-up inspection within 10 days or closure. During this inspection cycle no restaurant scored under 60.

Carnitas La Primera Meat Market at 8721 Lake June Road scored 60 with multiple health violations including expired food items, soiled utensils and employees who hadn’t completed an accredited food-handler course within the required time among others.

Desta Ethiopian at 12101 Greenville Ave., Suite 105, scored 62. Inspectors noted various health hazards including cross contamination, inadequate hand-washing practices by employees, expired food items and presence of roaches in the kitchen area.

Top Mart at 7047 Bruton Road also failed inspection with a score of 66. The establishment many violations including a lack of date labels on food items, dirty kitchen equipment and employees who had not completed accredited food-handlers courses within the required time.

Birrieria Aguinaga LLC at 2829 W. Northwest Highway, Suite 520, failed with a score of 67. Inspectors observed dirty food items in contact with kitchen shelves, unclean kitchen equipment, cross contamination, inadequate hand washing practices and lack of food-handler certification.

Delucca Gaucho Pizza at 1628 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 100, scored 67. The restaurant had violations including expired food items, cross contamination, lack of labels and dates on food items and fruit flies in the kitchen area.

El Gordo Seafood LLC at 451 W. Davis St. failed with a score of 67. Inspectors found raw food stored over ready-to-eat foods, soiled kitchen equipment and live flies and roaches.

Indian Masala Magic at 1001 Ross Ave., Suite 100, score 69 and failed the health inspection. The establishment had health hazards including raw food stored over cooked food, inadequate hand-washing facilities, expired food items and a lack of food-handler certifications.

Panaderia La Nueva #2 at 7034 Military Parkway scored 69. The establishment did not have proper hand-washing facilities for employees. Inspectors also found boxed bread covered in flies.
