High scores, rat droppings, closure seen in latest Tarrant County restaurant inspections
One restaurant was closed, three received high scores, and rodent droppings were seen in the latest Tarrant County health inspections, according to city data.
There were 197 inspections from June 16 to June 29.
Tarrant County Public Health inspects and scores all restaurants in Tarrant County except for those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills. Scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 29, a follow-up inspection is required.
A food truck in Haltom City, El Gordito Chon at 4436 Mink Drive, received 20 demerits and was ordered to stay closed until the establishment repaired its refrigeration and had running water for the unit.
It reopened with six demerits.
Three restaurants received over 29 demerits:
- Daan Sushi at 2805 East Grapevine Mills Circle 140 in Grapevine, 44
- Hurst African Market at 641 West Bedford Euless Road in Hurst, 40
- Asian King Buffet at 953 Melbourne Road in Hurst, 38
Five restaurants had at least one follow-up inspection:
- Bob And Fred Convenience Store at 3403 Azle Avenue in Sansom Park, 9
- Londoner Pub And Grill at 5120 State Highway 121 in Colleyville, 7
- Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar at 6301 Lake Worth Blvd in Lake Worth, 6
- El Gordito Chon at 4436 Mink Drive in Haltom City, 6
- El Pollo Loco at 1245 W Pipeline Road in Hurst, 0
Rodent droppings were seen at Bellissimo Italian Restaurant at 3809 Colleyville Blvd in Colleyville. The restaurant received 19 demerits.
Roaches were seen at Quality Inn at 3232 Southeast Loop 820 in Forest Hill, receiving eight demerits.
Flies and gnats were observed at:
- Hurst African Market at 641 West Bedford Euless Road in Hurst, 40
- La Mexicana Meat Market at 4117 Denton Highway Suite in Haltom City, 15
- El Pollo Loco at 1245 W Pipeline Road in Hurst, 12
- Bar Louie at D22 DFW Airport, 1
La Mexicana Meat Market in Haltom City had several repeat violations which could result in permit suspension due to employees lacking basic food safety.
