1 Arlington restaurant temporarily closed, 1 failed recent health inspection
One Arlington restaurant was closed and another failed Aug. 27-Sept. 2 inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.
Rooster Taqueria at 2601 E. Lamar Blvd. scored 60 and was temporarily closed by the city Aug. 30. According to the inspection report obtained by the Star-Telegram, the walk-in cooler wasn’t maintaining food at a safe temperature, mold was growing on top of a large container of food, employees were reusing dirty rags to clean food contact surfaces and the inspector found food debris and spills on the floor.
A spokesperson for the city of Arlington said the establishment corrected the violations and was allowed to reopen Sept. 1 and a follow-up inspection was scheduled for mid-September.
Out of the 70 establishments inspected, Rooster Taqueria scored the lowest. Arlington restaurants that score 75 or less require a follow-up inspection, and 70 is considered extremely poor.
Denny’s at 839 N. Watson Road did not have to close, but the establishment failed the Aug. 28 inspection with a score of 63. The inspector noted some food on the serving line was expired, there was no record of any employee going through food handler training and an excessive amount of food debris was found in all the microwaves in the kitchen.
Denny’s scored 93 on a follow-up inspection Tuesday, according to the spokesperson.
Pho 95 Vietnamese Restaurant at 5005 S. Cooper St. and Thuy Nguyen Cafe at 100 W. Pioneer Parkway passed inspection with scores of 71 and 73 respectively, but both establishments required a follow-up inspection.
Four received a perfect score of 100.
