Portillo’s ‘Beef Bus’ to serve Chicago-style hot dogs at this North Texas parking lot
Portillo’s, a fast-casual restaurant serving Chicago-style street food, will be bringing its “Beef Bus” to Allen for three weeks from July 25 through Aug. 12.
The 32-foot food truck will give North Texans a chance to try the cuisine ahead of the opening of Portillo’s restaurant in Allen, the second location in Texas. Its first location in Texas opened earlier this year.
Last summer, the food truck made a visit to AT&T Stadium to promote the national chain’s first North Texas restaurant. Portillo’s in The Colony opened earlier this year.
In 1963, Portillo’s was opened by Dick Portillo as a hot dog stand. The Chicago-based restaurant now boasts more than 75 locations across 10 states. It’s best known for Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, salads, shakes and chocolate cake.
You can stop by the Beef Bus at The Hampton Inn located at 830 West Stacy Rd. in Allen from Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can order Chicago-style hot dogs with all the fixings, a mini Italian beef sandwich, char-grilled Italian or Maxwell Street Polish sausages and crinkle-cut french fries.
Starting July 25, Portillo’s will conduct interviews with job applicants interested in working at the Allen restaurant. Interviewees looking to work at the new restaurant will receive a voucher for a complimentary meal from the Beef Bus. Interviews will be available Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
