Dead roach seen in food at Fort Worth restaurant that was closed in latest inspections
One restaurant was closed due to several unsanitary conditions — including a dead roach seen in food — in the latest Fort Worth health inspections, according to city data.
There were 42 inspections from June 25 to July 8.
Fort Worth inspections are based on a demerit-score system. Restaurants receiving more than 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and clean up the rest within 48 hours.
There were only two restaurants that received more than 30 demerits.
Mica’s Carniceria Y Tortilleria at 3501 Decatur Avenue — which received 31 demerits — was closed due to live roaches and unsanitary conditions. A dead roach was also observed in lettuce on a food prep line.
The restaurant was also closed in March due to the reach-in cooler and walk-in cooler not holding food at the proper temperature.
Taqueria Insurgentes at 6665 Randol Mill Road received 43 demerits on an inspection June 28. It was the only restaurant to have a follow-up inspection, receiving 23 demerits on July 3.
