3 Fort Worth restaurants, 2 with bugs, receive over 30 demerits in health inspections
Three Fort Worth restaurants received more than 30 demerits during the Jan. 22-28 inspections, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram. No restaurants were closed.
Acapulco Restaurant at 2612 Ephriham Ave. received 39 demerits on Jan. 24. The inspector found black organic matter inside the ice machine and saw employees touching ready-to-eat bread with their bare hands. Acapulco was re-inspected on Jan. 27 and received 7 demerits.
The Bangkok at 3529 Heritage Trace Parkway received 38 demerits on Jan. 24. The inspector found a roach and observed that food wasn’t being stored at a safe temperature. The Bangkok received only 2 demerits during a re-inspection on Jan. 27.
Paul’s Donuts Subs and Gyros, located at 1324 Hemphill St., received 33 demerits on Jan. 27. Violations included food stored at unsafe temperatures and fly strips with numerous flies that need to be removed from the facility.
The restaurant was scheduled for a follow-up inspection on Jan. 31. and was required to have a licensed food manager on site at that time. Employees were also required to obtain their food handlers license by that date.
A score of zero is perfect in Fort Worth inspections. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix critical violations and start corrective procedures on the other violations within 48 hours.
Salsa Limón at 1465 W. Magnolia Ave. scored 30 demerits, Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant at 4441 River Oaks Blvd. scored 28 and Buffalo Bros at 3015 S. University Drive scored 26.
