Fort Worth business without sink in bathroom closed; roaches found at 2 other restaurants
A Fort Worth business was recently closed for serious health violations, including employees not having food handling licenses and no sink in the restroom.
Fort Worth health inspectors visited 129 restaurants from Oct. 23 to Nov. 5.
Y&H Stop N Save, at 2912 Vaughn Blvd., was closed for not having a hand washing sink in the restroom and for employees having not completed a food handler course within seven days of employment. The restaurant side of the grocery store was forced to close down on Nov. 1.
Four restaurants received over 30 demerits, meaning they are required to fix the worst problems immediately and clean up the rest within 48 hours. A score of zero is perfect.
Mariscos La Marea, at 601 W. Northside Drive, scored a 40 for several food items not being held at a cold enough temperature and reheated food being held hot enough on Nov 2. Both measures were corrected on site. Another demerit found by inspectors was the storage of raw meat near cooked meat.
Crawlin’ Crab, at 6080 S. Hulen St., scored a 36 for food items not being held cold or hot enough to consume and several raw food items being stored near cooked or raw ingredients on Oct. 31. A follow-up inspection on Nov. 2 scored the restaurant at 20 demerits.
Brewed, at 801 W. Magnolia Ave., scored a 35 for food items not being held cold enough, raw eggs above ready-to-eat food and employees not washing hands between glove changes on Oct. 26. A follow-up inspection on Oct. 31 scored the restaurant at 6 demerits.
Mica’s Carniceria Y Tortilleria, at 3501 Decatur Ave., scored a 32 for hot food items not being held hot enough, shelled eggs and raw bacon near raw vegetables and food accumulation in microwave on Oct. 26. A follow-up inspection on Oct. 31 scored the restaurant a 13.

Other inspections notes include:
- At Hacienda Buffet Antigua, 1950 Menefee Ave., health inspectors observed dead roaches on a can opener and sanitizer bucket. A live roach was observed coming out of a cooler.
Thailicious, 4601 West Freeway Suite 206, a follow-up will be conducted to ensure facility is cleaner and for facility to provide proof of pest control since live roaches were found near the washing area.
Macaluso’s Italian Restaurant, 2443 Forrest Park Blvd., permit remains suspended until documentation is provided for installation of venthoods. Failure to comply and reopening without proper documentation may result in a closure and inspection fee.
