2 restaurants shut down, 1 fails in recent Arlington health inspections
In recent health inspections, two Arlington restaurants were temporarily shut down and another failed.
Sixty-three food establishments underwent inspections from July 24-30. With a perfect score being a 100, and a 70 considered extremely poor, one restaurant failed and two others were closed during the last week of July.
Little Caesars located at 1630 E. Lamar Blvd. and Pho 18 at 2216 New York Ave. were both closed due to health violations.
The Little Caesars, despite scoring a 90, was closed due to insufficient hot water. Repairs have since been made, and the pizza spot has reopened.
Pho 18 was shut down after inspectors cited “conditions of extreme filth, fly infestation, untrained food handlers, no managerial control/certified food manager, facility in disrepair and failure to sanitize food equipment/food contact surfaces,” according to a spokesperson from the City of Arlington.
It has not reopened as of Wednesday.
De la Fuente Tacos de Birria, located at 4331 Kelly Elliot Road, failed its inspection after scoring a 66, with violations including untrained food handlers, no managerial control/certified food manager, failure to sanitize food equipment/food contact surfaces and temperature violations.
The taco spot is expected to undergo an unannounced inspection this week.
Blu Lounge Bar & Grill, located at 2535 E. Arkansas Lane, which was closed the week prior (July 17-23) due to a roach infestation, also reopened during this inspection period.
