Two Arlington restaurants and one bar were closed for health violations and reopened within 24 hours, according to city records.

From April 17 through 30, 158 Arlington establishments underwent health inspections, and two scored below a 75, where a perfect score is 100 and below 70 is extremely poor. Three were temporarily closed by the City of Arlington.

The Chuggin’ Monk, located at 2301 N. Collins St., was closed with a score of 72, and Taco Bueno located at 1419 N. Collins St. was closed with a score of 76.

Subway Sandwiches located at 1632 W. Randol Mill Road was closed by health inspectors despite scoring a 92.

Shawn Corley, owner of The Chuggin’ Monk, said his establishment was closed because one of his hand wash sinks was not draining fast enough. He said the issue was fixed that day and the bar was reinspected in the morning and reopened.

Aimee Rockhill-Carpenter, health services manager for the City of Arlington, said The Chuggin’ Monk violations were for a non-working hand sink, unsanitary conditions and failure to sanitize food contact surfaces.

Taco Bueno was closed because their walk-in cooler was not maintaining safe food temperature and Subway Sandwiches was closed for not having hot water, Rockhill-Carpenter said.

All three establishments were reopened within a day of their closures.

First Chinese BBQ, located at 2214 S. Collins St., scored a 73 for cross contamination, improper hand washing, unsafe food temperatures and unsanitary conditions but was not closed.

A total of 13 Arlington establishments had follow-up inspections.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for restaurants within the city limits of Arlington for April 17th - April 30th, 2022. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Reinspections will be conducted for restaurants that score 75 or less. If serious health and sanitation violations are considered an imminent health hazard, the restaurant will be closed until the identified health hazard has been mitigated.
