1 Arlington restaurant closed, another fails in recent health inspections
An Arlington Mediterranean restaurant failed its health inspection last week after being cited for unclean conditions, untrained food service workers and food temperature violations, according to city records.
From April 10 through 16, 64 Arlington restaurants underwent health inspections, and two scored below a 75, where a perfect score is 100 and below 70 is extremely poor.
The restaurants, Amira Mediterranean Cuisine, located at 2424 W Division St., which failed with a score of 63, and Legacy Living at Arlington, a retirement center located at 1501 NE Green Oaks Blvd, which scored a 75, will require unannounced re-inspections next week.
Marquez Restaurant, located at 928 N. Collins St., was temporarily closed by health inspectors despite scoring an 85.
“They had a wastewater backup at the dish-washing area inside the kitchen, were not properly sanitizing food contact surfaces, they had temperature violations,” said Aimee Rockhill-Carpenter, a health services manager for the City of Arlington. “The closure was due to the wastewater back up. A followup was already conducted and they will be monitored more closely to ensure compliance is maintained.”
Marquez reopened later the same day.
A total of 10 Arlington food establishments required follow-up inspections.
