One Bedford restaurant scores poorly in Tarrant County health inspections
Out of 260 health inspections throughout Tarrant County restaurants from late November through early December, only one required a full follow-up inspection after scoring poorly with food being stored on the floor, some food product not temperature protected and a dirty ice machine with a mold-like substance.
Tarrant County health inspections look at food establishments throughout the county, excluding Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills, which have their own inspectors. Data collected by the Star-Telegram covers the inspections from Nov. 29-Dec. 10. Any score over a 29 required a follow-up inspection.
Tony’s Pasta and Pizza, located at 3320 Harwood Road in Bedford, scored a 36 on Nov. 29. Aside from improper food storage and a dirty ice machine, the restaurant was also cited for lacking a delivery temperature log, pans on the floor waiting to be washed and the dish-washing machine not dispensing proper sanitizer.
William Monnig Middle School scored a 5 but was cited for not having hot water on Dec. 2. Employees were required to wash their hands twice, and use hand sanitizer until the hot water was restored. The middle school also was not able to properly clean dishes, and non-refrigerated sack lunches had to be received from a different school that had hot water.
The middle school did not require a full re-inspection, but being a regulatory issue, was followed up to make sure the hot water was restored.
Other establishments, including food stations at the Great Wolf Lodge & Resort, were also inspected throughout this period. Most did not have violations.
