Usually, when there’s an emoji on the table during dinner, it’s because some smartphone addict couldn’t resist taking out her or (ahem!) his phone, and was looking at something on Facebook or scrolling through texts.

But Dallas Fish Market plans to bring emojis “to the table in a delicious way” on Wednesday night with a nine-course “emoji dinner.” The dishes will be inspired by emojis, with an interactive element as guests get to guess the emoji background behind each dish.

This might give new meaning to “Eat your out.”

The menu is being kept secret, although there will be wine pairings and Dallas Fish Market did send a couple of pics of the emoji dishes. There will be wine pairings as well, which should put an emoji smile on your face.

Chef Richard Triptow promises “a premier culinary event where guests will see their favorite symbols come to life with an elevated dining experience.” To some of us, emojis coming to life is the stuff of nightmares — but you’ll be able to eat these, thus removing any threat.

Coincidentally, The Emoji Movie is coming out in July, but there is no connection between it and the dinner.

The dinner will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dallas Fish Market, 1501 Main St. No. 100 in downtown Dallas. It’s $65 per person, which is actually not bad for nine courses with wine, and let’s not forget, it features edible emojis.
