This major Texas airport had the fewest TSA complaints. Here’s where travelers ranked it
Airport security checks can have a major impact on your flight experience. But no need to worry if you fly out of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
DFW had the fewest Transportation Security Administration complaints over the years, according to a recent study by Upgraded Points. It ranked second to Charlotte Douglas International Airport in an analysis of US airports with the lowest number of complaints.
“Security checks are an unavoidable part of air travel, but the experience can vary greatly depending on the airport,” said Keri Stooksbury, editor-in-chief at Upgraded Points. “And since navigating security can be such a high-stress experience, we identified where passengers are most and least satisfied with TSA, providing valuable insights for travelers.”
Upgraded Points examined TSA complaint data by category at 44 major U.S. airports from 2015 to 2023. It found DFW Airport had only 2.63 complaints per 100,000 passengers during that time.
Dallas Love Field airport also landed on the list of airports with only 4.3 complaints per 100,000 passengers. For precise comparisons across different airports, complaints were normalized according to passenger volume.
What were the top TSA complaints at DFW?
The most common complaints, airports with the highest number of those complaints, and seasonal complaint trends were found in the study. All data was provided by The TSA FOIA Electronic Reading Room.
At DFW Airport, customer service was the most frequently cited topic, with 13.06% of the total complaints. There was an average of 2.88% complaints about civil rights and 4.67% complaints about TSA pat downs at Dallas Love Field airport.
The report also found that passenger complaints increased during the holiday season in October, November, and December. However, January and February saw the fewest complaints across all airports.
