Dallas Love Field returns to normal operations after travelers previously packed airport
Dallas Love Field is now back to normal travel volumes after an unexpectedly large number of travelers crowded the airport on Thursday.
As of 10:14 a.m. Friday , Love Field officials assured that the airport has returned to normal. They now suggest arriving two hours before take-off time. They do not anticipate congestion based on booking data from their travel partners.
DAL announced that Thursday’s delays were due to a high number of passengers trying to check their bags. This caused lines to overflow the airport and baggage belts to work slower than normal. The airport suggested that travelers get to the airport three hours before their departure time.
Officials think that an unusually high number of travelers for the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority convention, where Vice President Kamala Harris spoke in Dallas on Wednesday, contributed to the congestion.
Photos from X on Thursday showed lines crowding the whole airport. By Friday morning, CBS 11 showed videos of the airport operating at normal numbers with plenty of space for guests to walk through.
As of 10:58 a.m. Friday, the general boarding wait time for security is six minutes at DAL. The airport is about a 40-minute drive from Fort Worth.
