August is the month for … pumpkin?

Not to be outdone in the rush to declare an early autumn, the Florida-based Olive Garden restaurant chain has returned its seasonal pumpkin cheesecake to the menu.

It’s the 20th year for the pumpkin cheesecake, a much-copied recipe.

McDonald’s is expected to offer pumpkin spice lattes in all stores Aug. 31.

Starbucks Coffee, where pumpkin lattes were popularized, traditionally launches them after Labor Day but may have them earlier in some locations.

The Six 10 Grille inside the Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth, known for its holiday season teas, doesn’t wait till the holidays to serve pumpkin. The oatmeal-pumpkin-pecan pancakes are on the menu year-round.
