‘Fixer Upper’ stars open new bakery

The Fixer Upper empire keeps getting bigger -- and sweeter.

Chip and Joanna Gaines, the oh-so-cute Waco couple who host the popular HGTV remodeling show Fixer Upper, opened a bakery Wednesday at their Magnolia Market at the Silos retail area. And, yes, they have a shiplap cupcake!

The Waco Herald-Tribune captured all the opening day excitement at The Bakery at the Silos, including the long lines, the eye-widening prices and customer’s reactions to the couple’s newest venture. The bakery’s menu includes a selection of cupcakes, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls and made from scratch biscuits.

In May, Chip, who went to Grapevine High School, and Joanna announced they had bought the spot formerly occupied by the Elite Cafe, a landmark restaurant that was opened for nearly 100 years but closed in February. They are already running a bed and breakfast called The Magnolia House, which opened earlier this year. Good luck trying to get a room!

And a few weeks later, they introduced a Magnolia Makeover contest that will allow fans of the show outside of Waco to enter to win a room makeover by Joanna.

In between, there has even been some disturbing news. Two goats were found shot to death on the Magnolia Homes property in Waco.

The fourth season of the HGTV show will begin airing in late fall, but that hasn’t stopped the Fixer Upper power couple from keeping their names in the news.
