Dallas favorite Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery will take over a restaurant space in University Park Village shopping center, according to a statement Wednesday.

Bread Winners, a 22-year breakfast, brunch and coffee landmark on McKinney Avenue, will replace Blue Mesa Grill when that restaurant moves to a new location this fall.

It’s the second westward expansion for Bread Winners, which will open a new Trophy Club location this fall.

When that was announced, co-owner Cindy Hughes said she and her husband, Jim, had looked at a Ridglea location and remained interested in Fort Worth.

Blue Mesa Grill will move in September to a new location at 600 Carroll St. facing Montgomery Plaza.

The new Bread Winners will look like the NorthPark Center location with brick walls, hardwood floors and patio dining, the company statement said.

It’s expected to open in spring 2017. In Dallas, the Hughes family also has The Quarter Bar in Uptown and Henry’s Majestic on McKinney Avenue.
