85C Bakery Cafe coming to North Texas
One of the enduring cliches about food in Texas is that, broadly speaking, it’s all beef and Tex-Mex as far as the eye can see.
But those who live in North Texas know — as our Cary Darling has shown in his occasional DFW.com series — there is a whole world of flavors available to sample.
Per a recent Dallas Morning News report, another unique culinary concept is on its way to the area, when the Taiwanese chain 85C Bakery Cafe opens in Carrollton this fall.
According to its website, 85C Bakery Cafe (so named for what its founders think is the ideal temperature for coffee) was “founded with the philosophy of 5-star quality at affordable prices.”
The first 85C Bakery Cafe opened in Taipei, Taiwan in 2004, and the chain currently encompasses a staggering 800-plus stores around the world, from China to Australia to Hong Kong to the United States. The eatery’s menu — which features coffees, teas, “decorative cakes” and breads — promises something for almost every appetite, including pastries made fresh each hour.
