Organic cotton candy creates carnival in your mouth

Dena Peterson, owner of Southlake-based Bravo Catering, wanted to do something special for the recent Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival’s Sunday Funday, something the kids would really like, so she developed Cotton Mouth, an organic, dye-free, gluten-free cotton candy.

And judging from the crowds at her table, it was a hit.

Flavors are non-traditional and currently include lavender lemonade, coconut chai, carrot cake, bananas Foster and pancakes with maple syrup. The sweet, melt-in-your-mouth treats are available for private parties, including bridal showers and weddings, and Peterson can pre-package them with custom labels or spin the sugar live on site.

Peterson, the former executive chef at Cafe Modern for 11 years, is also working on retail partnerships to sell Cotton Mouth in stores soon.
