Nestlé Toll House Café to hold Fort Worth grand opening
Nestlé Toll House Café — full name, Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip — and Red Mango frozen yogurt have been open for a few weeks in Sundance Square, where the two sweet shops share a space across from the plaza. But those openings weren’t, you know, grand, so the grand-opening festivities are happening this week.
According to a location map at nestlecafe.com, the Sundance Square location is the only Nestlé Toll House Café in Fort Worth, and currently the only one in Tarrant (a Southlake Town Square location has closed). And the cafe is making Fort Worth know that it’s happy to be here.
The cafe features cookies (of course), cookie cakes, ice cream and premium coffee. This location is owned and operated by Kimberly Tauch, who lives “out in the country” on 65 acres in the Collin County community of Anna, nearly 70 miles northeast of Fort Worth. She grew up in Florida but has lived in Texas since 1994. She and her husband have three children.
“[We’re] well-grounded in our rural life,” she said in an email. “I’ve tried to convince them to move to Eagle Mountain lake —no such luck. Love [the[ early morning commute to Fort Worth!”
Tauch also serves as director of franchise development for Crest Foods, the franchisor of Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip. She is the first employee of the brand to become a franchisee.
“Ever since I joined the company, I’ve wanted to own a Nestlé Toll House Café of my own,” Tauch says in a separate release. “So when the opportunity came to open one in a location as desirable as Sundance Square, I couldn’t sign up fast enough!”
The cafe is at 124 E. 4th Street in Fort Worth, and features a “hip, modern design” that highlights the breadth of delicious products offered. It is “co-branded” with Red Mango, full name Red Mango Yogurt Café Juice Bar & Smoothies.
The grand-opening ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with a “grand cookie cutting” ceremony featuring the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and other local dignitaries. Photo opps will be available and 1,000 mini-cookies will be handed out on Friday and Saturday. A balloon artist will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
This week, the café is donating 10 percent of proceeds from all cookie cake sales to Beautiful Feet Ministries, a local not-for-profit organization that each year serves more than 80,000 meals, distributes clothing to over 5,000 people and provides medical and dental services to more than 1,200 patients.
The Sundance Square location marks the 9th Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip in the DFW Metroplex and is among more than 150 system-wide. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
