J. Gilligan’s featured on Food Network show
The legend of J. Gilligan’s Irish Nachos just keeps growing.
The cheesy, carb-loaded concoction -- skin-on cottage fries, topped with melted cheddar, bacon, chives, onions and tomatoes -- was featured on the Feb. 3 episode of Top 5 Restaurants, which had a “Best Bar Foods” theme timed to Super Bowl 50. That episode re-airs this Saturday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m.
Food Network cameras came to Arlington in October 2015 to shoot footage at J. Gilligan’s, but the Top 5 Best Bar Foods episode didn’t premiere until recently. The show is hosted by Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian and Food Network Star Sunny Anderson.
Of course, UTA students and locals have been noshing on J. Gilligan’s gooey nachos for years, and this isn’t the first time the unique dish has earned national attention. It has been featured on The Travel Channel and ESPNU when the College Football National Championship was played at AT&T Stadium.
The publicity comes at a perfect time for J. Gilligan’s, which is less than a month away from celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with another one of its epic parties March 17. J. Gilligan’s, 400 E Abram St, Arlington, is joined in the Top 5 Best Bar Foods by:
▪ The Milwaukee Brat House, 1013 N Old World 3rd St., Milwaukee, Wisc.
▪ J. Timothy's Taverne, 143 New Britain Ave , Plainville , Conn.
▪ Buckley's, 232 1st Ave W, Seattle, Wash.
▪ The Greenhouse Tavern, 2038 East 4th St, Cleveland, Ohio.
