Rahr wins gold medals at national beer competition
North Texas, and Fort Worth in particular, came up big over the weekend at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Rahr & Sons Brewing took home two gold medals for its Regulator Doppelbock and Oktoberfest beers.
More than 6,600 beers were entered in the GABF, the most prestigious in the country, and 1,552 breweries were represented in 92 beer style categories.
Among the winners, five hail from North Texas with Rahr leading the charge by winning its first gold medals ever at at GABF. (Watch a video of Rahr at the Festival.)
Also locally, Panther Island Brewing won a silver medal for Allergeez. Rabbit Hole won a silver for its Rapture and 903 Brewers won silver for Sasquatch (entered in the aged category with its 2014 iteration).
Twin Peaks won bronze for its Barrel-Aged Brown Ale.
Overall, Texas breweries earned 15 medals at the competition. Check out all the winners at this year’s Great American Beer Festival.
