It’s a ways off, but Fort Worth’s Melt Ice Creams will be featured in the Dec. 18 episode of Unique Sweets, a show on the Cooking Channel.

The episode, titled “Tasty Texas Treats,” will also feature Dallas’ Hypnotic Donuts and Kate Weiser Chocolate. The Cooking Channel website describes Unique Sweets as “an insider's peek into innovative eateries across America that are creating the most unique and exciting desserts today.”

When Melt opened on Rosedale Street in Fort Worth in 2014, it inspired our ”Behind the Scoops” story on DFW ice cream shops. It has since moved to larger digs on Magnolia Avenue, where it also has a larger menu — and often a line spilling out the door.

“Melt Ice Creams in Fort Worth offers more than traditional scoops and cones,” says a synopsis for the Unique Sweets episode. “They have fantastical sundaes with flavors like goat cheese, honey black pepper, and roasted strawberries, plus an ice cream taco with all the fixings.” Er, the proper spelling is fixin’s.

Hypnotic Donuts was featured in one of DFW.com’s crazier food quests: A 2012 story seeking the best doughnut in DFW. Hypnotic also had a Denton location. Both are “serving up deep-fried deliciousness in the form of huge fritters with decked-out flavors,” in the Cooking Channel press release’s words.

Kate Weiser Chocolate, in Dallas’ Trinity Groves, was featured in a 2014 story we did on the Dallas by Chocolate Tour (you may be spotting a trend of a certain DFW.com writer grabbing all the sweet-tooth assignments). Like Melt and Hypnotic, it features multiple photogenic items that you still want to make invisible by eating them. From the Cooking Channel release: “At Kate Weiser Chocolate in Dallas, chocolate dreams come true, from their crazy candy bars to their smoky toffee with bacon.”

The episode is scheduled for 9 p.m. CST Dec. 18 on the Cooking Channel. To find the channel on your cable/satellite provider, go here.
