Fort Worth, Dallas and Denton each sport a mix of film and music festivals every year. Now, Arlington is joining the crowd with the first Frame4Frame festival running Sept. 15-Sept. 18.

The opening film on Sept. 16 will be A Man Called Jon, a comedy starring Irma P. Hall that was shot in Terrell. Showing on Sept. 17 is the feature drama Disassociationville from Austin filmmaker James Christopher. The rest of the lineup will include more than 20 films and shorts, many by North Texas filmmakers.

Films are being screened at the Studio Movie Grill at Arlington Highlands, 225 Merchants Row.

In addition, a dozen music acts -- including former Voice contestant Jeffrey Austin -- will perform beginning at noon Sept. 15 at South Street Patio, 400 E. South St. An art exhibit, “Ulterior Motifs,” will be at the Arlington Museum of Art.

The event is sponsored by the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council, the Arlington Film Society, and the Arlington Museum of Art.

“It’s our way of supporting independent film and the outstanding filmmakers who come out of Arlington,” said James Hawthorne, festival director and organizer, in a statement.
