National Dog Day is Aug. 26, and local businesses and organizations are celebrating with special promotions and events. (We will update the list as we find out about more).

Sprinkles is offering a special canine promotion through Aug. 25. Customers who buy six cupcakes and six doggie cupcakes receive a free doggie T-shirt. Tag a photo of your dog wearing its T-shirt with #dogsofSprinkles on Instagram to enter for a chance to win a Sprinkles party. The city of Irving is hosting a Yappy Hour on Aug. 25 to celebrate National Dog Day. The event takes place 6-8 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center and includes low-cost vaccinations, pet adoptions, food trucks and giveaways. 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd., Irving, 972-401-7700. The Frisco RoughRiders host Bark in the Park at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco at 7:05 p.m. on Aug. 31. The annual event features dog-related activities and giveaways. Admission is free for canine companions (owners must have a ticket).
