U.S. ‘Top Gear’ stars to drive into TMS
The stars of the U.S. version of the popular car-geek show Top Gear are taking a trip to, appropriately enough, Texas Motor Speedway.
Rutledge Wood, Tanner Foust and Adam Ferrara will come to TMS on June 14 for a live airing of a Top Gear on episode on “Big Hoss,” aka the world’s biggest TV. The screening will benefit Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter.
It’s hard to resist an event called The "Speedy, Beardy & The Mole Present A Night At The Drive-In" regardless of whether it’s for charity, but the good-cause aspect adds some good vibes.
The History channel show will air at 8 p.m. CDT. It will be preceded by a Q&A session with the stars from 7 to 7:15 p.m. and an autograph session from 7:15 to 8 p.m. before the drive-in style screening. Which means you can watch for your car/pickup/whatever but you can also bring lawn chairs and hang out under the stars (or at least the late-afternoon sun). Personal food and beverages are allowed.
The South Tunnel to the infield will open at 5 p.m. and "Big Hoss" will show a “variety of entertaining content,” as the release puts it, on its HD screen until 7 p.m.
Admission is $20 per carload; $15 in advance. Advance tickets are available at http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com or at 817-215-8500.
Tickets the day of the event will be available at the South Tunnel gate and — take note of this — only cash will be accepted.
Top Gear, a U.S. spinoff of a long-running popular British series, airs at 8 p.m. Tuesdays on History. For more info, go here.
