Fort Worth ‘Amazing Race’ star joins KVIL

Moving with unusual speed, KVIL/103.7 FM has named a new midday host to replace Sybil Summers, who moved to mornings on April 1 to partner with Mike Kannon on Kannon & Sybil: More Music Mornings.

Speaking of unusual speed, the new guy was part of #TeamTexas on The Amazing Race, CBS’ round-the-world reality-competition show. Tanner Kloven, who grew up in Fort Worth and appeared on last fall’s edition of TAR with Dallas buddy Josh Ahern, is now holding down the 10 a.m.-3 p.m. slot on KVIL (which is a CBS station).

This isn’t the first time that program director Jay Michaels has gone to the reality-TV well for a radio personality: Courtney Kerr, co-host of Leigh Ann and Courtney Kerr Unncorked from 3 to 8 p.m. on KVIL, appeared on Bravo’s Most Eligible Dallas and Courtney Loves Dallas (Kerr may love Dallas, but she grew up in Fort Worth).

In his Amazing Race bio, Kloven, then identified as a pharmaceutical sales rep, said that being from Fort Worth, he’s laid-back — and that the celebrity who most reminds him of himself is Matthew McConaughey. All right, all right, all right.

Kloven is on Facebook as Tanner Kloven, where you’ll see signs that this move had been in the works for at least a couple of weeks, and on Twitter as @TannerKloven.
