Ask me what my “must have” skincare product would be and my answer would be sheet masks.

The perfect pick-me-up during a long work week, sheets masks (when used regularly) are the only thing that can take my skin from tired and rundown to refreshed and refined.

With so many options to choose from these days, I’d be lying if I said I had a favorite. In fact, half the fun of using sheets masks has been trying out all the different versions.

In this week’s Fab or Flub? column, I’ll be reviewing a sheet mask called the Rejuvenating Anti-Aging Facial Mask, by Los Angeles-based skincare spa Skin Laundry.

From the minds who developed the revolutionary 10-minute laser facial treatment (a favorite among celebrities like Kate Hudson and Halle Berry), the sheet mask is packed with skin-boosting nutrients that promise to leave your complexion looking tighter and brighter while also reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Available on the Skin Laundry website, the product costs $14 per mask or $58 for a box of five.

First impressions

Like others I’ve used in the past, Skin Laundry’s Rejuvenating Anti-Aging Facial Mask is unremarkable in appearance.

Housed in a sachet, it is made from a fabric that is coated in a mixture of natural nutrients and 19 skin-conditioning extracts.

To use it, you carefully unfold the mask and place it on your face (being sure to match up the eye and mouth holes) for 15 minutes. Once time has elapsed, you remove the mask and any excess product that is on your face.

The last time I reviewed a sheet mask, I received an email from a reader complaining that the mask I recommended was too large for her face. If you have ever used any brand of sheet masks, then you might be aware that the majority of them (including Skin Laundry’s) are large.

I don’t find this to be too bothersome, since the masks I use only require me to wear them for (at most) 20 minutes, and I usually pass the time by watching television.

However, to make the process more tolerable, I suggest lying face up on the couch and taking a quick power nap while you wait for time to pass.

Fab or flub?

Fab! Whether you are looking to reverse fine lines caused by sun damage or just want to start your own anti-aging regimen, Skin Laundry’s Rejuvenating Anti-Aging Facial Mask is an exceptional product to consider.

While I don’t feel that I’ve been using the product long enough to form an opinion on how well it diminishes fine lines, I have noticed that the mask brightens and plumps my skin in a way that makes imperfections less noticeable. This, in turn, makes for better, smoother makeup application.

I also have been applying the Skin Laundry’s Restoring Night Serum ($50 from the Skin Laundry website) before bed each night.

Used together regularly, the sheet masks and the serum have been a nice way to give my face an extra dose of skin-nourishing nutrients that help me wake up with a well-rested complexion (even when I’ve gotten less than six hours of sleep).
