Fans of EDM in DFW can count on one thing: the week before New Year’s will include Lights All Night, the two-day event that’s the largest of its kind in North Texas. This year’s take place Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2016 but on Thursday Highland Productions, the promoter, announced a change-up: a new venue.

It was originally scheduled for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas, the place where it has been held in three previous years. Now, it’s going to be held at Dallas Market Hall, a venue in Dallas’ Design District with an interesting history as the Trade Mart, part of the Dallas Market Center complex that includes Market Hall, was the destination of John F. Kennedy’s motorcade on the day he was assassinated.

In a release, Highland co-founder Scott Osburn said that they’ve long wanted to use Market Hall but it was never available. “Over the last six years we have had one goal: create the most over-the-top NYE experience possible. Every year we are looking for the perfect venue, largest production, top musical acts and best experience. After years of using this criteria, we finally received the opportunity to work with Dallas Market Hall. DMH has been producing a NYE event at the space for years, and the opportunity wasn’t available,” he said. “We just recently found out that the space was available and were able to strike a deal with the venue. After flying in our full team to build the site including production, safety and ‘experience curators,’ we know we are onto something great and have never been more excited as we believe we have found the long term home for Lights All Night.”

According to this story in the Dallas Morning News though, the Convention Center never had a contract for this year’s Lights All Night so that may have played a factor as well.

Acts scheduled for Lights All Night this year include Kaskade, Hardwell, Flosstradamus, and Porter Robinson among others. For more information, go to lightsallnight.com.
