In this week’s Fab or Flub, the march toward Christmas continues with a review of Kiehl’s Limited Edition Creme de Corps. Packed with skin nourishing ingredients like sesame oil, cocoa butter and beta-carotene, the festive lotion is formulated to keep even the driest skin soft and smooth during the harsh winter season.

On top of its skin-saving abilities, the product also gives back to charity. With every purchase of this product, Kiehl’s will donate 100 percent of the profits (up to a $100,000 donation) to Feeding America. The Limited Edition Creme de Corps is available at Nordstrom (in-store and online) and ranges in price from $29.50 to $48.

First impression

Unlike other lotions you might encounter this time of year, Creme de Corps is not sweetly scented like gingerbread or candy cane, and it doesn’t smell of some outdoorsy aroma like pine. In fact, other than the slight smell of cocoa butter, this no-frills lotion is essentially fragrance-free.

The formula is creamy but not so thick that it feels heavy on the skin. When applied to the body, it sinks right in and leaves your skin feeling nice and soothed. While the Kiehl’s website does state that the product is oil free, I found it was just a tad bit greasy and left my skin with a slight sheen.

Also worth mentioning is the fun packaging. Designed by fashion designers Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, the bottle is decorated with a cast of colorful holiday characters decked out in the design duo’s signature plaid. If you’re a sucker for cute or unique packaging like I am, then this will definitely be a big selling point.

Fab or flub?

Fab! Add Kiehl’s Limited Edition Creme de Corps to the growing list of products I’m loving this holiday season. While some limited-edition products need a flashy selling point (i.e. being infused with diamonds or 24k gold), Creme de Corps relies solely on having a fantastic formula that hydrates and nourishes even extremely dry skin.

As someone who deals off and on with Keratosis pilaris on my arms, I fancy myself a pretty good judge of whether a lotion moisturizes well. After using the product regularly, I can vouch that it kept my skin well-hydrated throughout the day and caused no irritations.

The Limited Edition Creme de Corps is a wonderful product that offers a charitable option for shoppers looking to give back this holiday season.
