Fab or flub? Bobbi Brown unveils Sequin Eye Shadow for holidays
With Christmas right around the corner — six shopping weekends, to be exact — lots of major beauty brands have begun releasing their annual holiday collections. Among the new makeup offerings is an eye-catching collection by Bobbi Brown called Sterling Nights.
Reportedly inspired by the jewel-toned hues and star-studded skies of South Africa, the collection features multiple limited-edition items, including a quartet of stellar-looking eye shadows.
Available online and in-store at Nordstrom, Bobbi Brown’s Sequin Eye Shadow ($36 each) features a baked, densely pigmented, pearl-infused formula that claims to go on seamlessly without creasing or flaking.
The bold eye product comes in four cosmic-sounding shades (Constellation, Comet, Moon Rock and Star Beam), which can be worn alone or layered to create a multidimensional look.
First impression
Housed in chic black and silver compacts, Bobbi Brown’s Sequin Eye Shadows are simply stunning. With names like Moon Rock and Star Beam, it seems only right that these marbleized shades resemble tiny galaxies flecked with stars — or in this case, bits of glitter.
All four shadows are extremely pigmented and intense, which makes them perfect for holiday parties (but less so for daily wear). Swatching all four shades on my hand, I found the formula to be lightweight and a bit dry. The texture of the eye shadows is very soft and velvety, and they apply smoothly to the eyelid and blend well.
Fab or flub?
Fab! If you’re looking to add some major glitz and glamor to your holiday look, then look no further than Bobbi Brown’s Sequin Eye Shadows.
These rich eye shadows easily create an intensely smoky or shimmery look. All four eye shadows are long-wearing and I had no problems with them creasing or fading over time. While I did experience some minor fall out, that was easily corrected with the addition of eye-shadow primer.
If you can afford to splurge on only one of these eye shadows, I would definitely recommend opting for the magnificent Constellation. A beautiful shade of cocoa brown flecked with bits of gold, it is the most versatile and looks gorgeous when used all over the eyelid by itself or as a crease color.
If you’re not buying for yourself, I’d still recommend picking one up for any makeup-obsessed loved ones on your Christmas list. These eye shadows are unique and unlike anything on the market, so they’re sure to be a welcome addition to any beauty lover’s collection.
