Fab or flub? Miss Spa’s brightening masks promise radiant face

Miss Spa

To date, one of the most popular products I have written about for Fab or Flub? has been Miss Spa’s Pre-Treated Foot Booties.

After my glowing review last year, I was flooded with reader emails asking where these so-called miracle booties could be purchased. Unfortunately, it turned out that finding them was like discovering a needle in a haystack. With a limited number in select Walgreens and CVS locations, they were extremely hard to locate (much to the dismay of readers).

Fast-forward to today and I notice a full inventory of these exact booties (along with the entire Miss Spa’s Results in 20 Minutes line) every time I make a trip to my local Walgreens.

So, for this week’s Fab or Flub? column, I decided to revisit the Miss Spa brand and try out two additional products: the Brighten Facial Mask ($3.99) and the Brighten Eye Mask ($3.99).

Just in time for fall and winter, these brightening masks are designed to help make dull, dehydrated skin luminous once again.

First impression

Like all Miss Spa 20 Minute products, the masks come in sealed pouches with the words “paraben-, fragrance- and artificial dye-free” on the front. As someone who aims for a chemical-free lifestyle whenever possible, I considered this a major positive.

I tried the eye mask first. The two comma-shaped gel patches are pre-treated on both sides with a formula meant to brighten the dull area under your eyes and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Usage is straightforward: I placed one under each eye, pressed to adhere, then kicked back for 20 minutes to wait for the magic to happen.

Just as simple to use was the facial mask. After unfolding the mask, I pressed its pre-treated side directly onto my face. The trickiest and messiest part of this experience was trying to align the holes to match up with my eyes, mouth and nose.

If you’ve ever tried a pre-treated mask before, then you know that these masks look like something Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” movies would wear (i.e. you will not look attractive). But if 20 minutes of looking like a masked serial killer is what one has to do to get nice, radiant skin, then so be it. I’m in.

Fab or flub?

Fab! In my book, the Miss Spa brand has hit two more home runs with the Brighten Facial Mask and the Brighten Eye Mask.

Quick and easy to use, the masks left my face and under-eye areas looking bright, toned and rejuvenated. In just 20 minutes, I saw a significant reduction in the dark circles underneath my eyes, and my entire face looked extremely well-rested.

At just $4 a piece, these masks impressed me as a major beauty steal and, come December, should qualify as great stocking stuffers.
