▪ Join an extended adult morning hike beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the River Legacy Living Science Center, 703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd. The hike is recommended for age 18 and older. RSVP to 817-860-6752, ext. 107; www.riverlegacy.org.

▪ The Fall Festival in the Japanese Garden, sponsored by the Fort Worth Botanical Society and Fort Worth Japanese Society, will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Koto music, taiko drumming, dance and sword demonstrations, tea ceremonies, arts and crafts and more will be offered. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4-12 and free for children younger than 4. The garden is in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd. 817-392-5510; www.fwbg.org

▪ Join an animal “meet and greet,” 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. From 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, bring the kids to hear a naturalist talk about bats. Both days’ activities are free with admission ($2-$5). Thursday, 5-7 p.m., is the refuge’s fifth annual Trails and Treats event. Kids in their Halloween costumes hike the trails for treats, listen to scary stories, make a craft and more. ▪ The Little Sprouts program returns with a class on pumpkins, 1-1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Backyard Vegetable Garden of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd. The program is for kids ages 18 months to 3 years.
