Places to go for Oct. 24-29: Garden classes, nature-friendly activities in DFW

▪ The Fall Festival in the Japanese Garden, sponsored by the Fort Worth Botanical Society and Fort Worth Japanese Society, will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Koto music, taiko drumming, dance and sword demonstrations, tea ceremonies, arts and crafts and more will be offered. ▪ Join an animal “meet and greet,” 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. From 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, bring the kids to hear a naturalist talk about bats. Both days’ activities are free with admission ($2-$5). Thursday, 5-7 p.m., is the refuge’s fifth annual Trails and Treats event. Kids in their Halloween costumes hike the trails for treats, listen to scary stories, make a craft and more.
