Fab or flub? Rating Murad’s Oil Control Mattifier
While the temperature outside still feels warm enough to wear flip-flops, my mindset continues to stay fixated on the impending cool weather of the fall.
This means continuing my weekly quest for moisture-packed beauty products that will help take our readers’ beauty routines through the dry, frigid months with ease.
In this week’s review, I take a look at a moisturizer by celebrity-favorite Murad. Available at both Ulta and Sephora (1.7 ounces for $39.50), the oil control mattifier is a shine-reducing moisturizer that claims to control oil for up to eight hours.
It can be used underneath makeup or alone on clean skin and has SPF 15 to help prevent sun damage. It also claims to decrease breakouts.
First impression
After cleansing my face with the help of my trusty Clarisonic, I squeezed a dime-size amount of product into the palm of my hand and applied it to my face.
The moisturizer felt lightweight and absorbed quickly. Unlike some of the pasty SPF-infused moisturizers I’ve tried in the past, it was sheer and left behind little indication that I was actually wearing anything on my skin.
Overall, I found it applied smoothly and left my skin feeling refreshed.
Fab or flub?
Fab! Finding a moisturizer that meets all your expectations can be hard, but Murad’s Oil Control Mattifier is a definite exception.
Applied daily under my makeup, the moisturizer has provided my skin with some much-needed moisture without leaving my face looking like a total oil slick.
In the two weeks that I have been using the product, it has significantly helped improve the quality of my skin. I feel like my skin looks brighter and smoother, and it feels softer, too.
The perfect addition to my daily skin-care routine, this product earns my recommendation for anyone needing a moisture boost and for those concerned about preventing skin damage.
