Fab or flub? Give your tired hands the Lush treatment
With fall officially in full swing and colder temperatures (hopefully) around the corner, it’s the perfect time to begin thinking about how to adapt your beauty routine for the new season.
For most of us, this means adding moisture-packed products to help combat cooler temperatures, lower humidity and increased winds.
One major effect of the changing season (and one I know all too well) is dry hands.
During the cold-weather months, hard-working hands take a beating and are often left with damaged cuticles and cracked, thirsty skin. Enter Lush Cosmetics’ Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask ($4.95 at www.lushusa.com). Made with all-natural ingredients, the one-time treatment claims to transform hands from tired to fabulous in just 15 minutes.
First impression
All natural and vegan-friendly, the mask is made with multiple butters whose names are hard to pronounce (“cupuaçu” and “murumuru,” for those who are wondering) and lots of moisturizing oils (avocado, almond and argan). It’s solid, shaped like a hand and attached to a wooden stick so that you can hold it as you dissolve it in hot water.
Using the mask is simple: Place the product upright in a bowl that is large enough to fit both of your hands into comfortably. Add enough hot water to cover the mask and stir. As you stir, the mask dissolves and the water thickens into a lotionlike substance. When the mask is fully dissolved, you soak your hands in the creamy substance for 15 minutes.
As I soaked my hands, I could smell the wonderful aroma of the different butters and oils used to make the mask.
From start to finish, I found the whole treatment process to be very therapeutic and relaxing. Who knew just taking 15 minutes to not think about anything could be so great for the soul?
When I finished, I shook my hands out over the sink, then rubbed any remaining treatment into my skin.
Fab or flub?
Fab! It’s hard to deny how wonderful of a product Lush Cosmetics’ Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask is.
Not only did it leave my hands feeling baby soft, but it also left my skin smelling wonderful and my cuticles looking great. Used in conjunction with a good moisturizing lotion, it’s the perfect solution for fighting the threat of dry, tired hands this season and beyond.
Lush has several locations in Dallas, including a store at NorthPark Center.
