Fab or flub?: Too Faced’s new blushes claim to have long-lasting power
Last time I checked, 16 hours makes for a very long day, and for a makeup product to last that long, well, it’s a tall order — especially if that product is a blush that promises perfectly flushed cheeks without any need for reapplication. This is the claim of the new Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes by Too Faced Cosmetics (available for $26 at Sephora and Ulta), and I quickly recognized a strong candidate for a Fab or Flub review.
The Love Flush products are reportedly designed to resist smudging and fading, too, and with the Texas heat still in full swing and humidity hanging heavy in the air, August seemed the right time to put the Too Faced blushes to the test.
First impression
If I needed another reason to check out Too Faced’s Love Flush blushes, I found it in the packaging. Housed in cute, heart-shaped compacts, the blushes immediately reminded me of a similar compact mirror I had owned and adored when I was younger. And the cute factor didn’t stop there.
When I popped open the compact, I discovered a whimsical design (complete with bunnies) etched into the blush. A nice touch.
From an offering of six available shades, I chose three (I Will Always Love You, Baby Love and Love Hangover). With just one finger swipe, I was impressed. I would describe the color transfer as “amazing.”
These blushes are highly-pigmented and definitely need to be used with a light hand when applying. They are also very silky and lightweight, which is a great thing if you hate feeling like you have a ton of makeup caked on your face.
Fab or flub?
Fab! Thanks to adorable packaging and a great formula, I’d call Too Faced’s Love Flush blushes the perfect way to perk up both your makeup bag and face. Giving cheekbones a natural pop of color, these highly-pigmented blushes require only a single swipe to achieve a nice, flushed look.
While I could continue to rave about how terrific the blushes looked on (and how awesome it is that they’re cruelty-free), the main selling point is definitely the staying power. Not only did the blush withstand the test of long days and our scorching heat, it also survived an hourlong workout in the gym when I had sweat running down my face.
Happily enough, I found Too Faced’s claims about Love Flush blushes to be true.
