Hill Country Walmart evacuated over possible threat, police say

A Walmart store in Fredericksburg was evacuated and the ATF bomb squad was called in check out a possible threat, but police say nothing dangerous was found and the store has reopened.

Federal investigators were called in after a "possible threat" in the Walmart area, according to police. The store is just south of the Hill Country city's downtown.

A bomb squad from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the store and cleared it at 10:20 a.m., Fredericksburg police said.

Police said the store would reopen at 11 a.m. and that there is "no ongoing threat."

Fredericksburg police did not say what led them to call in the bomb squad, or whether a bomb threat had been made.
