Sítio El Tropicano now taking reservations ahead of its fall opening
Guests hoping to stay at a reimagined River Walk hotel that once hosted celebrities and dignitaries can now make reservations.
Sítio El Tropicano, the reimagined version of one of San Antonio's premier hotels of the 1960s, is now accepting reservations ahead of its late 2026 opening.
El Tropicano River Walk hotel, a landmark establishment in the city that holds the distinction of being the first hotel built directly on the River Walk, opened in 1962. It shuttered in 2020, after years of decline.
Boutique real estate investment and development firm Trestle Studio is overseeing the property's transformative restoration, which also includes San Antonio's largest pool deck, a 5,000-square-foot spa combining traditional treatments with modern therapy, and a range of indoor and outdoor event spaces spanning 400 feet of River Walk frontage, according to a news release.
The 315-room urban resort also announced a culinary partnership with Texas-based Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, which will oversee three dining concepts.
The hotel also unveiled Sítio Club, a membership program offering access to a new gathering place.

Sítio El Tropicano is expected to open in late 2026. Reservations for overnight stays, private events and corporate bookings are now available at thesitio.com while information about Sítio Clum membership is available at thesitio.com/sitio-club.
