Popular NBC Series 'Heroes' Returns to Netflix on July 1 After 10-Year Absence

Netflix is preparing to make a slew of additions to its streaming library in July. A new report indicates that one of them is a popular NBC sci-fi series that was originally removed from the platform back in 2016.

Heroes ran on NBC from 2006-2010 before a successful stint on Netflix. However, it was removed from the service in the United States on from Netflix USA on Oct. 1st, 2016 and hasn't returned--until now.

What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore reports that Heroes is coming back very soon.

When will Netflix add Heroes?

Moore says the superhero drama, created by Tim Kring, will join Netflix U.S. on Wednesday, July 1. All four seasons and 77 episodes will be available.

"While it was inconceivable that a high-profile show like this would return to Netflix during the height of the streaming wars in the late 2010s and early 2020s, we've seen in recent years that companies like NBCUniversal, Disney, and Warner Bros. Discovery have been opening up their vaults and licensing their classic titles back to Netflix with the caveat that licenses aren't quite as long as they used to be," Moore writes.

"We've seen incredible resurgences for shows like Suits, The Office, and Superstore-and now, another massive network hit is about to get the "Netflix Bump."

Heroes premiered on Sept. 25, 2006. The show documents a group of seemingly normal people who discover the have superhuman abilities and can use them as forces for good.

Each new season of the show had a different volume name, with season 3 split into two volumes, Villains and Fugitives. Season 1 was titled Genesis, Season 2 Generations and Season 4 was Redemption.

Heroes featured an impressive cast, including Hayden Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, Adrian Pasdar, Ali Larter and Greg Grunberg. The show has a 52% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but an 82% mark for Season 1.
