LPD: Driver arrested after performing 'donuts' in Charger, fleeing officers

A man was arrested after fleeing officers who attempted to stop a vehicle that was reportedly being driven recklessly, according to the Laredo Police Department.

Officers observed an orange Dodge Charger traveling near Concord Hills Boulevard and Waco Court at about 4:45 a.m. June 6.

The vehicle was allegedly being driven in a reckless manner, including performing "donuts" on the roadway.

As officers attempted to stop the Charger, it traveled north on Concord Hills Boulevard and then east on Texas 359, police said.

Officers later found the Charger abandoned in the 200 block of Girasol Court and after canvassing the area, located the driver and a passenger.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Raul Rene Magana and the passenger as a 19-year-old woman, according to police.

Jail records show Magana was charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony; evading arrest on foot, a Class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was booked into Webb County Jail and released the same day after posting bonds totaling $14,000.

The passenger was charged with evading arrest on foot, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.
