Dave & Buster's in indoor amusement center gets alcohol designation
A restaurant that is part of a proposed indoor amusement center received approval this week from the Planning and Zoning Commission to serve alcohol.
Midland Westridge LLC requested a Specific Use Designation with Term to sell all alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption at a Dave & Buster's to be built at 6023 Andrews Highway.
The request was for a 25,016-square-foot portion of the 4.497-acre tract that will become the indoor amusement center. The proposed alcohol-service area would total 14,580 square feet.
The site's proximity to Primrose School of Midland at Westridge, across from Chevron's campus, drew concern from commissioners. The commission ultimately approved the request 4-2, with one commissioner abstaining.
The proposed hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday. Hours for alcohol service would be the same.
Midland Westridge recently received commission approval for a zoning change from PD, Planned Development District for a Shopping Center, to RR, Regional Retail District, to accommodate the proposed development. RR zoning allows alcoholic beverage sales for on-premises consumption in a restaurant with approval of the specific use designation.
The request next goes to the City Council for final approval.
