Man Boards Plane on Birthday-Not Prepared for What He's About To Hear
A man traveling on a Ryanair flight to celebrate his birthday in Europe with his girlfriend has gone viral for his reaction to crew making an announcement about him.
Danni, 29, was traveling to Spain for a vacation with her boyfriend Marcus, 36, when she decided to mark the occasion in a special way-telling the flight crew that it was Marcus’ birthday, and getting them to announce it.
“I asked the flight attendants 30 minutes before landing, and had to keep a straight face for that long-which, if you knew me, is impossible to do,” Danni, from Swindon in England, told Newsweek.
Knowing the crew would make an announcement as they landed, Danni made sure to record the moment the happy birthday wish came over the speakers-and caught Marcus’s mortified reaction when he realized it was for him.
In a video shared to her TikTok account, @dannibasilone on April 15, Danni captured the moment the crew called over the intercom to alert flyers to “a special passenger” on board.
Marcus, who was completely oblivious, was staring out the window as the attendant spoke-but then she continued: “May I ask you all to join us in wishing a happy birthday to Marcus, who is turning 36 today.”
At the sound of his name, Marcus jolted in shock and turned to his girlfriend with a completely baffled expression-which quickly turned to one of embarrassment as he realized she was recording him and had set this all up.
Grinning, he pulled his hood up to cover his face, as Danni burst out laughing and other passengers cheered to wish him a happy birthday, and the crew wished him the same and a good vacation.
Danni wrote in the caption: “I can’t believe I managed to pull this off.”
“I didn’t think he’d be mortified,” Danni said. “Anyone that knows Marcus would think that he would have stood up and [taken] a bow, but he said he was so surprised and had no idea; he was so shocked when he heard his name!”
TikTok users loved it, watching the video over 636,000 times, as one posted: “This is brilliant, the way he turned around and looked at you!”
“I did this for my daughter’s 21st birthday, she hid under her blanket,” another wrote, while a third laughed at his “face of realization.”
Others asked Danni how she got the staff to do this, and she revealed she simply asked when she went up to use the bathroom-but added: “This flight wasn’t very busy, so that’s probably why they did it.”
